What type of power and handling will I get with the 2018 Jeep Compass?

The 2018 Jeep Compass comes standard with a MultiAir Tigershark 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, giving the driver a hefty 180 horsepower and 175 lb.-ft of torque. The transmission comes with a few options for both the 4x4 models, and the 4x2 models. The 4x4 models can have the 4x4 specific nine-speed automatic transmission, or the six-speed manual transmission. The 4x2 models have the choice between the six-speed automatic transmission, or the six-speed manual transmission. Jeep continues to maintain excellence with the five-mode Jeep Selec-Terrain system for all of one's off-roading needs, while detailing a class-leading 20:1 crawl ratio. The Jeep Selec-Terrain system allows for the most optimal handling in four-wheel-drive in any climate. This includes standard modes of Auto, Snow, Sand, and Mud, for every 4x4 model. The exception being Trailhawk, which adds an additional Rock mode. Trailhawk is the go-to for 4x4 off-road efficiency, citing a higher ride, skid plates, and the ever important tow hooks in both the front of the vehicle, and the rear. This allows for a towing capability of up to 2,000 lbs. The 2018 Jeep Compass Trailhawk is also capable of extreme angle approaches of 30-degrees, a 34-degree departure angle, and a 24-degree breakover angle. The large and effective 17-inch tires help to plow through water of up to 19 inches while having the option to control the movement down hills. The fuel efficiency for these vehicles ranges from 23 mpg for city and 32 mpg for highway in a FWD manual transmission, 22 mpg for city and 31 mpg for highway in a 4WD manual and FWD automatic, and 22 mpg for city and 30 mpg for highway in a 4WD automatic.

What are some design features of the 2018 Jeep Compass?

The 2018 Jeep Compass has four models to choose from, the first of which being the Sport. Sport contains 16-inch wheels, Bluetooth, a 5-inch touchscreen with the Uconnect system, air-conditioning, six-speakers, and the all important USB port. The Compass Latitude contains everything the Sport does, with the addition of an upgraded interior, wheels larger than the 16-inch of the Compass Sport, entry and ignition without a key, and the ability to pick and choose for more packages. In comparison, the Compass Limited most impressively contains 18-inch wheels, exterior trim that has been upgraded from the previous Latitude and Sport, an even larger 8.5-inch touchscreen for Uconnect containing the ability to integrate smartphone autoplay capabilities with both Apple and Android devices, climate control, heated seats, leather interior, and a driver powered seat. The Compass Trailhawk is the off-road vehicle of choice, with shields to protect the engine and the gas tank, 17-inch wheels, a suspension that is raised for better mobility on off-road terrain, and a package offered only in AWD, with a Selec-Terrain system. The Trailhawk also includes a one year subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio. All of the trim options contain five seats, with plenty of room in the front for both passengers, and 38.3-inches of legroom for passengers in the back seat. In the space behind the back seat of the Compass there is more than 27 cubic ft of cargo space, which does not include the additional space created when the back seats are folded, creating around 60 cubic ft of cargo space. Options for exterior colors for all trims include Redline Red Pearl Coat, Laser Blue Pearl Coat, Olive Green Pearl Coat, Jazz Blue Pearl Coat, Billet Silver Metallic Clear Coat, Diamond Black Crystal Pearl Coat, and Bright White Tri-Coat. Spitfire Orange Clear Coat is available for Trailhawk and Sport models, Pearl White Tri-Coat is available for Limited models, and Rhino Clear Coat is available for both Limited and Trailhawk models. Interior colors for models include Black, Black and Sandstorm, Black and Ski Grey, and Trailhawk Black.
