Interior and Dimensions
Although the Jeep Compass and the Chevy Equinox are in the same vehicle class, there are many differences in their dimensions. For instance, the Chevy Equinox is longer at 183.1 inches, while the Jeep Compass measures 173.4 inches in length.
Although this size difference does give the Equinox a few extra feet of cargo room, it can also make it more difficult to maneuver around tight corners and through packed parking garages.
Besides having enough room, you'll also want a comfortable interior whether you're riding the highs and lows of off-road trails or traveling on a flat highway.
In either vehicle, you can have available conveniences like:
- Front heated and ventilated seats
- 8-way power-adjustable front seats
- Heated rear seats
- Heated steering wheel
However, you'll only find an available Premium Alpine® Speaker System with nine speakers inside the Compass.
Performance
It's tough to beat legendary capability like the kind found under the hood of a Jeep. While both vehicles are equipped with engines of similar levels of strength, only the Jeep Compass is built to handle a variety of off-roading challenges.
Although the Chevy Equinox can be equipped with all-wheel drive (AWD), the available 4x4 Jeep® Active Drive on the Jeep Compass makes scaling rocky ground a breeze thanks to a 20:1 crawl ratio and low-range capability.
Moreover, the Compass can be equipped with an available Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System which adjusts transmission ratios, engine performance, and torque distribution for maximum traction. The Equinox does not have a comparable feature.
Technology and Safety
Vehicle technology needs to be intuitive and easy to use; however, it's a big plus when it's also nice to look at and fun to play with. You'll find an available 10.1-inch touchscreen display within the Jeep Compass with a sleek display and seamless connectivity to your smartphone.
The largest screen you can get on the Chevy Equinox is an 8-inch display.
Both SUVs prioritize safety. On the Compass, you'll find these features as standard:
- Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking
- ParkView Rear Back-up Camera
- Active Lane Management
- Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path Detection
The Chevy has comparable standard features like:
- Forward Collision Alert
- Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
- Rear Vision Camera
One feature the Compass offers that the Equinox does not, though, is the Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist. This feature can identify parking spots and park the Compass with your supervision.Â
