When you're a driver in the New City, Nanuet, or Pearl River area, you know how important it is to have a capable SUV, especially when those harsh winters hit. That's why our team at Rockland CDJR recommends the 2019 Jeep Cherokee.

As you'll see in our Jeep Cherokee review, this SUV offers plenty of engine power, has impressive handling capabilities, and has more than enough interior space for anything you want to bring along on your next adventure.

2019 Jeep Cherokee Performance Specs

The 2019 Cherokee gives drivers their choice of three different engines:

  • 2.4L MultiAir®2 Tigershark® I-4: 180 horsepower, 171 lb-ft of torque
  • 3.2L Pentastar® V6: 271 horsepower, 239 lb-ft of torque
  • 2.0L turbo I-4: 270 horsepower, 295 lb-ft of torque

If you need to tow heavy weights, the 3.2L engine is going to get you the highest capability. This engine has a maximum towing capacity of 4,500 pounds when properly equipped.

You can still tow up to 4,000 pounds with the 2.0L engine while the 2.4L engine has a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 pounds.

Dimensions and Seating inside the Jeep Cherokee

Whether you're bringing all your friends along on your next getaway or enjoying a bit of alone time on the open road, you'll have plenty of space inside the 2019 Jeep Cherokee for all the essentials-and then some!

You can seat a total of five passengers, while still having space for up-to 24.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row. The sliding rear seat means you can adjust this space as necessary, depending on how much legroom your second-row passengers need.

The trunk space also features a hidden load floor. Simply lift up the cargo area floor to store small or fragile items, while keeping bulkier luggage up top. For example, you can safely keep golf balls or helmets in the hidden compartment while storing your clubs or bike up top.

Need even more space? Fold down the rear seat to create a flat load floor that can accommodate up-to 54.9 cubic feet of cargo.

2019 Cherokee Handling Capabilities

If you're taking on winter snow or dirt roads, you can do so confidently in your Jeep Cherokee knowing that you have several 4-wheel drive (4WD) systems available to help you tackle tough terrain.

For example, the Jeep Active Drive I 4WD system is a full-time 4WD system that automatically shifts between 2-wheel drive (2WD) and 4WD as necessary depending on your conditions. The Jeep Active Drive II 4WD system is also available and includes a 4WD Low Mode for really tricky situations.

You can further optimize your performance to suit your needs with the available Selec-Terrain® Traction Management System. This comes standard with every Jeep Cherokee 4WD SUV and lets you select between five available drive modes:

  • Auto
  • Snow
  • Sport
  • Sand/Mud
  • Rock

The Rock Mode is only available with the Jeep Active Drive Lock 4WD system that increases capability by letting you lock-in 4WD mode so that you can't switch back into 2WD until the job is done.
